Reech Achieves Cyber Essentials Plus Certification: What It Means for Us and Our Clients

After a rigorous period of technical evaluation behind the scenes, we’ve officially achieved the Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
This marks a major milestone for our team and our clients, verifying that our internal systems, devices, and platforms align with the highest recognised UK cybersecurity standards.
Let’s dive deeper into this moment and look at the importance of keeping our infrastructure airtight.
Understanding Cyber Essentials Plus
Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed scheme designed to protect organisations like ours against a whole range of cyber threats. While the standard certification involves a self-assessment, the “Plus” version requires a rigorous, independent audit to verify all technical and security checks.
In short, an independent expert fully tested our digital defences to make sure they’re strictly in line with security standards and best practice.
Achieving this standard means our defences have been thoroughly tested and proven. For our internal team, clients and wider network, it provides absolute confidence that their business data and digital assets are in safe hands with us.
A Strategic Milestone
For us, this certification is so much more than a badge for our website footer. It’s about proving to our clients, and ourselves, that we do things properly behind the scenes.
Rob Hughes, Founder & Managing Director, commented on the strategic importance of the certification:
“When we look at where Reech is heading and the scale of the digital projects we are delivering, security can’t just be something we talk about; it has to be a core part of our strategy. Our clients are trusting us with their businesses, so they need to know our setup is completely bulletproof.
The team did a brilliant job maintaining complete focus throughout the process, and this achievement marks a significant step forward for the agency.”
The Technical Rigour Behind the Scenes
Achieving compliance required a serious deep dive into our day-to-day operations. Rather than just checking a few boxes, the audit put us under a microscope to test the 5 core pillars of cyber security:
- Tightening our firewalls
- Locking down secure configurations
- Strictly managing user access
- Maintaining constant malware protection
- Proving we patch software updates within a strict 14-day window.
It was a thorough and demanding process that tested our infrastructure from every possible angle. We reviewed how every single device connects to our network, ensuring that there were no weak links. From in-office equipment to hybrid devices, it took a lot of planning and dedication, but digging into the technical details was entirely worth it to ensure our setup is as resilient as possible.
Jake Bown, Head of Technology and Innovation, spoke about the process from an operational perspective:
“The brilliant thing about this audit is that it forced us to look at our entire network under a microscope, checking every single laptop, server, and piece of software we use daily. It was a highly thorough process, but it has completely sharpened how we handle things day-to-day.
From my perspective leading technology and innovation, having this bulletproof foundation is really exciting. It means we can confidently push boundaries and build forward-thinking digital platforms for our clients, knowing that secure foundations are in place.”
A Brilliant Team Effort
An achievement like this requires complete alignment across the business. We want to recognise our internal technical team who steered the project through all the paperwork and testing. Huge thanks go to Jake Bown, Brandon Hawkes, and Dena Evans for their dedication to this project.
