Supporting Shropshire Community Foundation. Media and Content for Dalian Atkinson Medal Challenge

Showcase Nov

At Reech, we get to work on some impressive projects, accelerating sales through data-driven strategies and creatively sound solutions.

But it’s not always about the numbers.

Supporting local communities and working alongside like-minded charities is a priority at Reech. We are proud members of Shropshire Community Foundation (SCF), so the opportunity to help spark the Dalian Atkinson Medal Challenge was too good to pass us by.

This campaign is about more than honouring a footballer. It’s about celebrating Dalian’s achievements and ensuring his legacy continues to provide opportunities for others”, Sonia Roberts, Trustee of SCF. “With the backing of the Aston Villa Foundation, we’re inviting fans to do something meaningful and make a lasting gift that will support tomorrow’s footballers inspired by a past football legend.”

Dalian Atkinson’s Legacy Lives On

Dalian Atkinson’s legacy is based around his love for sports and its positive impact on young people. Created by his family to honour the late football legend, the Dalian Atkinson Legacy Fund (DALF) supports causes close to Dalain’s heart, such as youth empowerment, mental health awareness and accessibility in sports for all.

To honour one of Aston Villa’s most legendary players, a special edition Aston Villa Foundation Medal launched alongside the ‘Number 10’ challenge, inviting fans to raise money by participating in an activity based around Atkinson’s ‘Number 10’ shirt. Whether you swan 10 lengths, walked 10km, or cycled 10 miles, every sponsored stride, spin and stroke helped the young people in Shropshire and beyond.

The DALF entrusted our Reech team to provide content and media to bring the challenge momentum, from photography and dynamic reels to brochures and engaging social posts.

Let’s unpack what we delivered…

Reech on the Pitch

To raise funds for DALF and uphold Dalian’s legacy, we needed to spread the word and turn heads.

We crafted an authentic press release for Shropshire media outlets, with high quality photography of Dalian’s family at Aston Villa grounds.

It was important to us that we captured the heart behind the challenge, so when Ste and the team went to Villa Park to shoot content, focus was on bringing alive his legacy that lives on that pitch and around the stadium.

For socials and sharing, we assembled 30 second animations to launch the challenge, carousels and static assets to continue promotion. Invitation flyers were created to distribute to SCF members and businesses.

When creating these assets, Rich and the team ensured everything aligned with the SCF brand and emphasised the driving force behind the challenge, which was to fundraise for the young people in Shropshire in the name of Dalian’s legacy. This meant directions how to sign up, fundraising page activations and CTAs.

Working on charity-based projects not only elevate our surroundings, but boosts our internal team, knowing that their work is directly feeding back to their own communities. Reech truly shines when working for charities, and the assets spoke for this.
