Our Pledge to Our Planet

Reech Blogs November ESG

ESG and Net Zero aren’t just buzzwords. They’re ideas and initiatives that our people and our clients genuinely care about. And we’re constantly striving to do better and be better. That’s why we’re committed: not just to producing tangible growth for our clients, but about making a positive impact – within our culture and across our community.

We’re on a journey to balance our purpose and our profits. While we’ve already made significant strides so far, we know that this is a long-term pledge, and we are firmly focused on holistically enhancing our sustainability credentials.

Here we document the difference we’ve made so far, and detail the goals we’re striving towards over the coming weeks, months, and years…

Partnerships

Earlier this year, we chose to work with DigitalOcean as our hosting partner, thanks to their impressive green footprint and commitment to using renewable energy. We’ve swapped to suppliers of drinks, snacks, and other office essentials that align with our ethical and moral objectives, too.

Recycling

We measure food waste and have introduced dedicated bins to facilitate and encourage recycling.

Carbon Reduction

Keen to reduce our overall carbon footprint, we’ve implemented a variety of policies and subsequent incentives to inspire our team to get involved. These include the Government-backed ‘Cycle to Work’ scheme, as well as an encouragement to use public transport or carpool with colleagues.

Water Usage

We invested in aerators for both our kitchen and bathrooms to reduce our usage. And we use collected rainwater to nurture our office plants.

Energy

Through monitoring our energy usage we’ve made a variety of recommendations to improve it, including: switching to efficient light fittings, changing settings for all devices to automatically ‘sleep’ following a short period of inactivity, and educating our team to turn all monitors and TVs off when not in use.

Working From Home

In response to the changing world, we’ve also updated our ‘Working from Home’ procedure, introducing ‘Head Down Days’ to allow our team to work free-from office distractions. This advancement was also made with the environment in mind, as we’ve provided advice and guidance on recycling, e-waste, and sustainable practices at home.

Through regularly checking and challenging our efforts to date, as well as responding to feedback from our entire team, we’ve established a series of stringent environmental and energy usage targets. These have been communicated agency-wide and evolve as required in line with our other objectives.

We pledge to:

  • Reduce our electricity consumption by 2% year-on-year
  • Increase landfill diversion to 87% within the next 12 months
  • Decrease our total weight of waste by 1%
  • Continue to monitor, implement and improve our waste reduction strategies, such as: recycling programmes, composting, and reducing packaging.

Committed to a better future, we’re also on a journey towards B Corp certification. Find out more about what this means and the additional aims we’re working towards, to improve both our social and environmental impact.
